BACHS bulk bills all Aboriginal clients. To support BACHS bulk bill, you need to have a valid Medicare card. Our friendly reception staff will ask you to confirm your Medicare number and residential address at each appointment.
If you need to register, add a child, renew or replace your Medicare card, our staff will be more than happy to help you.
MyMedicare and Closing the Gap Incentives (PBS and IHI)
MyMedicare is voluntary and free to register. Through MyMedicare, patients link themselves to BACHS, enabling greater continuity of care and improved care coordination. Our reception staff will ask you to register with BACHS as part of MyMedicare and CTG Incentive Programs. Registering with BACHS is important as it supports us to support you with your healthcare needs.

gp clinic
Our GP service provides a wide variety of care for all ages including management of acute and chronic diseases, health assessments, mental health care, preventative care, procedures and health education.
All services are bulk-billed.
Our GPs are trained in delivering culturally sensitive services and lead all health treatments and programs for all our clients.
Further screening, treatment and support as directed by our GP’s is delivered by our team of nurses, Aboriginal health workers and other clinical support staff. This can include immunisations, wound dressings, pathology, ECGs, ear and eye checks, and other health preventative screenings.
For all GP appointments please call BACHS reception. Please advise reception if you have more than one issue to discuss with the doctor as this may require a longer consultation time.

For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) describes the overall wellbeing of a person.
BACHS SEWB and Mental Health Service strives to encourage a positive state of mental health and wellbeing associated with a strong and sustaining cultural identity, community, and family life that provides a source of strength against adversity, poverty, neglect, and other challenges of life.
The SWEB service is available for any person of the community who may be facing some challenges in their lives.
The social and emotional wellbeing team work with our nursing staff, Aboriginal health workers and GPs to case manage and coordinate care for the treatment of medical, substance and mental health disorders.
Mental Health Service
Initially, BACHS GPs are able to help people with mental illness and can make referrals to specialist mental health services if and when needed.
Psychologist
Children, adolescent, and adult psychologist services are available on a fortnightly basis (pending appointment availability) at BACHS.
BACHS Psychology services are bulk billed.

integrated team care program (ITC)
The Integrated team Care (ITC) program aims to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with chronic conditions through care coordination and support for self- management.
BACHS works to assist clients in accessing necessary health services and have access to a supplementary service funding pool to access allied health and specialist services that are urgently required and/or unavailable in a clinically acceptable timeframe or locally.

podiatry
BACHS offers monthly podiatry services. BACHS podiatrists are qualified health professionals specialising in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and surgical conditions of feet and lower limbs.
Podiatry can help with kids’ health, diabetes, sports injuries, structural problems (biomechanics), treatment of the elderly and general foot care.
For an appointment with our Podiatrist, you will need to undertake a health check and be referred by our GP or health worker.
As with all our services, this service is bulk-billed.
audiologist
BACHS provides culturally safe audiology services for our community. We offer information, tools and resources for parents and carers so they can make informed decisions about their hearing or their child’s ear and hearing health.
Good hearing ensures children can listen and learn and stay connected to friends’, family and community throughout their life. Hearing problems can start as early as when they are bubs and it’s important to get their hearing checked often.
BACHS offers monthly qualified audiologist services for both adults and children including:
- Diagnostic Hearing assessments
- Ongoing support and guidance for a child’s hearing needs and for parents.
- Hearing reports and referrals to GPs
- Swimming plugs and ear plugs
- Hearing solutions to help clients hear clearly in their everyday
lives. - Ongoing support and professional audiology advice.
- Advice on how to protect your hearing, including resources and fact sheets.
transport
We provide transport to BACHS clients to and from our clinic within the local Bourke area including Enngonia.
BACHS also provides a regular transport service to Dubbo for BACHS clients to any specialist services that clients have been referred to by us.
We also cater for people with disabilities with our bus being purpose built to accommodate wheelchairs.

Specialist Information
BACHS has several visiting specialists attending
the clinic on a regular basis. Specialist services are provided to both BACHS clients and to members of the local community.
Before seeing any of our visiting specialists you will require a written referral from your GP. Please be aware that some clinics do have a waiting list.

BACHS uses an appointment system which is made up of:
- Regular scheduled appointments with clinical and allied health staff.
- Emergency appointments, that are screened by the Registered
Nurse and booked in on the same day, if deemed urgent. - Walk-in appointments (where appointment time is available)
- Paperwork (non-urgent)
- Referrals (non-urgent)
- Work cover certificates
- Recalls or results.
- Owing scripts (pharmacy requested)
- Comprehensive assessments (GPMP &/or 715)
BACHS sends all patients a SMS reminder at 5pm the day prior to appointments. Please ensure your contact mobile phone details are correct in our system.
Please contact the clinic if you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment.
Patients are advised to bring their valid Medicare card with them for all clinical appointments at BACHS.
