A two-day women’s health and wellbeing forum held by Bourke Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (BACHS) brought almost 100 local women together for important discussions around mental health and self-care.

“It was an amazing couple of days, and we had a good turnout. It’s a huge credit to the team how well it went off,” organiser and BACHS Cultural Care Connect Network Coordinator, Noeline Dixon said.

The event drew around 50 women on the first day and 45 on the second. The mornings were devoted to guest speakers covering issues of health, nutrition, mental health and wellbeing, while the afternoons offered self-care and creative activities.

“We had a lot of guest speakers including Tracey Lynn, who’s our Indigenous counsellor and visits once a month,” Ms Dixon said. “She talked about mental health and did some self-care activities with the group.”

“Tracey Hardy came out and had a yarn as well. She’s from Wattleseed Nutrition and talked about health and wellbeing and body image.”
